Lloyd Knevelbaard, who owns Grill & Patio Solutions in Royal Palm Beach, got into the outdoor kitchen business almost three years ago, and his company carries the Fire Magic line. "My best friend introduced me to the whole thing in California," he explains.

Interior decorators envision bringing the outside in. Not Knevelbaard "I want to bring the inside, outside."

Think about the aesthetics, he advises.

"You don't want your old black barbecue grill on wheels after you've put in a good amount of money for landscaping and a pool Throw that old grill away. Our new grills come with a lifetime guarantee."

He finds his clients want a built-in look rather than a prefabricated unit, and he aims to make his kitchens look like extensions of the indoor kitchen. His prices range from $3,900 to $39,000, with the average outdoor kitchen running between $7,000 and $9,000, he says.

"The price can run to whatever a client wants to put into it, but an outdoor kitchen adds value to the house and you will get your money back when you sell."

Like Cook, Knevelbaard likes stainless steel, and he, too, says that the outdoor kitchen has all the appliances. "You can even have a microwave put in safely," he notes.

His tip: If you entertain in your indoor kitchen, your guests will probably congregate in your outdoor kitchen as well, so consider adding a bar component.
